Champions League

The Champions League group stages have come to an end, with all four Premier League teams making it through to the last-16.

All eyes were on Tottenham in the final round of fixtures, with all four sides still able to go through in an enticing Group D. It was the north London side who eventually progressed as group leaders, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s dramatic late winner sealing top spot.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool also won their final fixtures, though under less pressure with all three sides already safely through. Liverpool, unlike Chelsea and City, were unable to top their group, however.

The likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain could now await the Premier League quartet, with the attention swiftly turning to the knockout stages, and in particular the last-16.

Meanwhile, fellow Brits Rangers and Celtic were unable to join their counterparts having emphatically crashed out at the group stages, with neither side even dropping to the Europa League.

Sportsmail takes you through all the last-16 details below, including how it will work, when it’s taking place and who the English teams could potentially face.

When is the draw and how to watch it?
The draw for the Champions League last-16 will take place on Monday, November 7.

As usual, the draw will take place at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, which will also play host to the Europa League draw immediately after.

The Champions League draw is scheduled to begin at 11 am UK time.

The draw will be available to stream on UEFA’s official website, while BT Sport will also be televising it live.

Sportsmail will also be covering the draw live, so you can keep up-to-date with us.

How will the draw work?
The last-16 draw will consist of eight seeded teams, being those who finished first in their group.

The seeded teams will be drawn against one of the eight runners-up. Sides from either the same country or group will not be able to play each other at this stage of the tournament.

The seeded team will also have the benefit of playing their away leg first, with the second leg on home soil.

Who are the English teams likely to get?

Liverpool have almost a 40 per cent chance of drawing Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16 – with one of the English clubs likely to get Inter Milan.

A calculation of probabilities for each pairing in Monday’s draw shows that Jurgen Klopp’s side, who finished second in their group, could face a tough test against the German champions.

The Reds have a one in five chance of drawing Real Madrid, who beat them in last season’s final.

Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham, meanwhile, all topped their groups and each have roughly an 18 per cent chance of drawing Inter Milan.

The two London clubs also have a decent chance of getting Borussia Dortmund or RB Leipzig in the first knockout round.

The probability calculations, courtesy of MisterChip, comes as the 16 teams that have progressed from the group stage await their fate in the draw at 11am UK time on Monday.

When are the last-16 matches being played?
The last-16 first-leg ties will be played across February 14-15 and February 21-22, with the second legs then taking place across March 7-8 and March 14-15. All 16 matches will kick-off at 8pm UK time.

The draw for both the quarter and semi-finals will take place on March 17, and this where things get particularly interesting with teams from the same country allowed to play against each other at this stage.

The quarter-finals will take place on April 11-12 and April 18-19, with the semi-finals then played over May 9-10 and May 16-17.

The final, being played in Istanbul next year, will be played on June 10.
