Ivan Fresneda

As reported by The Athletic, Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal with Real Valladolid right-back Ivan Fresneda. However, the 18-year-old also has an offer from Arsenal and he will make his decision on Monday.

The fee agreed is €15m, Fresneda wouldn’t join Dortmund this winter and instead would spend the rest of the season on loan at Valladolid, but Sky Germany are reporting that Dortmund would like to buy the right back for the second half of the season, while Fresneda himself would like to spend the remainder of the season in Spain, this is also backed up by Sport1’s Patrick Berger.

Along with Arsenal, Newcastle United and several Spanish clubs also showed an interest in Fresneda but they all dropped out of the race for the 18-year-old.

Fresneda has played 10 times for Valladolid this season starting seven of them. This is his first full season as a part of the Valladolid first team.

Dortmund recently signed Julian Ryerson from Union Berlin for five million euros earlier on in the window to replace the injured Thomas Meunier. He made his debut in Dortmund’s 4-3 win against Augsburg.

If Fresneda chooses Dortmund, where Ryerson fits will be unknown but the future of Thomas Meunier is likely decided.
