Youssoufa Moukoko

Borussia Dortmund have announced that they have extended the contract of Youssoufa Moukoko until 2026. The 18-year-old’s deal was set to expire in the summer.

“It’s no secret that I feel good at BVB,” said Moukoko. “I played in the youth teams, took my first steps in professional football here and now I’m ready to take the next step in my development with the club.”

Moukoko has experienced a breakout season this year due to the absence of Sébastien Haller. The 18-year-old has played 14 times for Dortmund in the first half of the season, scoring six times and assisting four.

His form earned him a call-up to the German national team for the World Cup where he made a very brief appearance against Japan in Germany’s opening game.

Negotiations were difficult with many reports suggesting that Moukoko wasn’t happy with the salary that BVB had offered, but ultimately he wanted to remain at the club despite interest from Chelsea, Newcastle United and Barcelona.

Borussia Dortmund resume their Bundesliga campaign against Augsburg on January 22 and it’s likely that Moukoko will make the starting XI, ahead of Sébastien Haller.
