Vinicius Junior

Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior protested against sponsors Nike by wearing a pair of all-black boots against Valencia.

The Brazilian forward is battling to end his 10-year agreement with the American company, though there is no termination clause included in the contract.

Vinicius Jr, however, took matters into his own hands at the Bernabeu on Thursday night by wearing plain black boots in the first-half.

The 22-year-old did change his footwear for the second-half, though, as he wore a pair of Nike yellow boots before scoring in a 2-0.

Vinicius Jr’s deal with the sportswear manufacturer runs until 2028 having first got sponsored by them in 2013, when he was just 13.

He wore an old version of Nike Mercurial boots during Real Madrid’s run to the Champions League title last season and the rapid attacker thinks Nike should give him more recognition as one of their biggest stars.

His performances for Real Madrid last season and this term have been outstanding and elevated him to another level.

If Vinicius Jr does indeed manage to cut ties with Nike, there will no doubt be a scramble for his signature from competitors such as a Adidas, Puma and Reebok.

The former Flamengo player also has deals with EA Sports, Vivo, Casas Bahia, BetNacional, OneFootball, JetEngage, Golden Concept and Royaltiz and Pepsi.

He will next be in action for Real Madrid when they visit Mallorca in LaLiga on Sunday afternoon.
