Erik ten Hag’s career since leaving Ajax raises a difficult question. Something that is not difficult at all is to play on 1xBet online and bet on Ajax.
How could a manager who created one of Europe’s most exciting teams end up being dismissed by both Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen?
At Ajax, Ten Hag had the ideal environment for his football. He won 3 Eredivisie titles and reached the 2019 Champions League semi-finals, eliminating Real Madrid and Juventus along the way. Those who play at 1xBet online can also bet on giant European football squads too.
He developed young players within a club whose recruitment and football philosophy were closely aligned with his own. His success was therefore real, but also highly dependent on the environment around him.
An experience in the Red Devils that didn’t go as expected
Manchester United exposed the limits of that model. You can always get latest 1xBet apk app, and visit the football page to place bets on the best Premier League teams.
Ten Hag inherited an unbalanced squad at a club suffering from years of inconsistent recruitment and structural problems. Although he won the 2023 League Cup and 2024 FA Cup, performances became increasingly incoherent. United often struggled to control midfield, defend transitions or establish a consistent pressing game. His influence over recruitment also became a problem. Expensive signings such as Antony failed to deliver, while the manager increasingly appeared to be fighting rather than fixing the club’s deeper dysfunction. He was eventually dismissed in October 2024, despite recording a 54.6% win rate.
Another failed attempt
Leverkusen should have offered Ten Hag an opportunity to rebuild his reputation, but instead the episode became even more damaging. It is also available to download 1xBet apk for Android, so you can place bets on all Leverkusen matches.
Appointed to replace Xabi Alonso in May 2025, he inherited a team undergoing major changes. For example, 3 major figures departed:
- Florian Wirtz;
- Jonathan Tah;
- and Granit Xhaka.
All of this while more than 15 new players arrived. If you like the German Bundesliga, download the 1xBet app apk for Android to place bets in real time.
Yet Ten Hag also contributed to the rapid collapse. A 5-1 pre-season defeat by Flamengo’s under-20s side and concerns about his communication further weakened confidence.
Results then provided the final trigger. Leverkusen lost 2-1 to Hoffenheim before surrendering a 3-1 lead against ten-man Werder Bremen to draw 3-3. Ten Hag was sacked after only 2 Bundesliga matches.
