Girona Futbol Club is a Spanish professional football club, headquartered in Girona, Catalonia. In 1930, the club was founded by a group of players who were playing in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 2016-2017 season, after more than 80 years of waiting, Girona was officially promoted to La Liga, a spectacular step and a great inspiration for the fans. Estadi Montilivi Stadium with a capacity of nearly 12 thousand spectators has become the home of the team. In addition to the men’s football team, Girona also has a women’s football team and a system of amateur player training facilities, contributing to the development and advancement of football at the grassroots level.<\/span><\/p>\n

History of the founding of Girona Club<\/b><\/h2>\n

Before Girona Club was born, Girona city witnessed the existence of two football teams, CE Gironi and UD Girona. However, due to internal problems, the two disbanded, thereby creating conditions for the formation of the Girona Club in 1930. Allowed to use the city’s symbol as a logo, Girona quickly surpassed opponents and participates in the Catalan second division.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 1935-1936 season, Girona entered the Segunda Division for the first time but was unsuccessful. After the Spanish Civil War, they mainly competed in the third and fourth tiers. By 2008, after nearly half a century of waiting, Girona was promoted to the Segunda Division.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 2014-2015 season, Girona almost succeeded in qualifying for the Spanish National Football Championship, but unfortunately, they were unable to overcome Lugo. In the 2016-2017 season, Girona officially promoted to La Liga after many years of anticipation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Girona’s most notable achievement is probably when they defeated Real Madrid in 2017, affirming their strength. However, in the 2018-2019 La Liga season, they were relegated and returned to play in the Segunda Division.<\/span><\/p>\n
