For five weeks, teams will be facing each other for what is going to be the most entertaining football event.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Biggest Sporting Event Ever Organized<\/span><\/h2>\n

It is three nations hosting this year\u2019s tournament and they are United States, Mexico, and Canada.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And it is interesting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The matches are going to be played across six different time zones. From the Pacific to Eastern in the US, and then the Mexico City and Canadian venues.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So Asian fans may struggle because some games will be played in the morning and some at night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tournament Structure: Groups to Final<\/span><\/h2>\n

So the 2026 format features 48 teams and they will be divided into 12 groups of 4. The group stage matches are going to be played for 16 days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After that, the top two teams from each group and eight of the teams that finish 3rd in the group are going to be in the 32 team knockout round. So that will be round of 32, then round of 16, then quarterfinals, semifinals, and final.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With this new structure, what it means is that we will have 48 matches alone in the group stage which is more than the entire 1990 World Cup. the knockout stage adds 32 more matches to the final so that is 80 matches for 5 weeks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why the Schedule Matters More Than Ever<\/span><\/h2>\n

In previous World Cups we had 32 teams and that means it was easy to keep track of all the matches but now there are 48 teams and there are matches to be played in different places. If one does not plan well, they will miss out on some matches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In South Korea, football platforms are starting to share breakdowns of the World Cup match schedule called\u00a0 <\/span>\uc6d4\ub4dc\ucef5 \uacbd\uae30 \uc77c\uc815<\/b><\/a>. They have converted the time for the matches into Korea Standard Time (KST) so that viewers know when to tune in to watch the matches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Key Dates Every Fan Should Know<\/span><\/h2>\n

The tournament is going to start in June 2026 and it will start with the host nation\u2019s first match. The group stage matches will be played for the first two and half weeks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Round of 32 is new and it will be the beginning of the knockout stage matches. We will witness 16 matches over 4 days and it is going to be the most action-packed period of the World Cup.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For the last 10 days of the event, we are going to have the quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place match, and final which will be held in the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The matches that are going to be played in the US East Coast will begin in the early morning hours in Korea and Japan from between 4am and 8am.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
