However, eight months ago things changed. My success rate is now in the 61% neighbourhood with a 34% start. I think that’s about as much luck as I can ask for, though.<\/p>\n

When it came to mind, I was considering predictions on Tuesday night. I lost 7 of my last 10 bets! I really wasn’t even profitable. Well, the calculations were hard, and I couldn’t turn a blind eye to it.<\/p>\n

The Pattern I Noticed<\/span><\/h2>\n

Losing with a heart paced more slowly than your head will empty your wallet quicker. I knew I had to admire a Manchester United player from the age of eight and, at that time, despite good and bad periods in their history, I would have wagered my money upon Manchester United. No rotten form, no injured player and facing the Italians in a red-hot effort\u2014it didn’t matter, the Manies were still the team to back.<\/p>\n

What’s effective is penetrating true patterns rather than emotions. The form and context are much more important than I realised recently. Head-to-head data between two particular teams can give you information the league table won’t. If a match can be turned upside down, that’s what injury reporting does.<\/p>\n

I began a spreadsheet, recording results, odds I used, whether I won or lost and notes made on the reason behind each pick. Over three months, they made 147 wagers, and a trend began to show. Accumulator bets and choosing five teams to all win? I would absolutely hate the absolute thing about money pits. In fact, single bets and doubles were proving to be quite successful.<\/p>\n

Finding Better Resources Changed Everything<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are thousands of prediction sites that are available online. Many are they completely trash! Finding places that were willing to reveal their complete record, including wins and losses, helped me with all of that.<\/p>\n

I began to investigate various options for betting as well. Until recently, I only had to place a match winner bet. Continued on to continue to find over 2.5 goals, both teams to score, Asian handicaps. It turns out I am much better in predicting high-scoring matches rather than outright winners.<\/p>\n

Now it’s like when I bet 6-8 times a month, but only if it’s actually something that has been thought out and not just because I want to bet it.<\/p>\n

Maintaining your commitment to linear leagues that I actually attempt to pay extra attention to has been huge. I was gambling on the closest matches of Brazilian Serie A, including ones I had literally seen no games of. How about the Premier League and La Liga and Bundesliga \u2013 competitions I watch regularly now? That familiarity will help you gain insight you may not be getting based on the odds.<\/p>\n

Now I have $180 per month to spend. If that doesn’t work, I’m off of betting until next month if any. I’ve kept this rule for six consecutive months and in some months have not even gone half that much, as I have become much more discerning about which vendors are worth coming to and which aren’t.<\/p>\n

How about calling Bankroll Management something much more interesting? As for the 2-3% risk per bet, nobody would raise their eyebrows hearing that when they could be going for huge parlay potential. But my $180 has doubled when I would just have to be patient and disciplined about the size. Other months I’m losing 70$ or so, it sucks, but not that it can all of a sudden.<\/p>\n

The \u201cbiggest mental change\u201d was to view this more of a homework assignment rather than just buying lottery tickets. Now, I spend about 45 minutes of researching before any bet I make, such as comparing what the sharper bettors are thinking, looking at the case studies of recent matchups, etc. At various times, I make myself shelve a bet altogether.<\/p>\n
